WORKING OF FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORY CRIME BRANCH,  

BALOCHISTAN QUETTA.

Establishment and Function

 The Balochistan Police established Forensics Science Laboratory, Crime Branch Quetta in 1984, which has been working under the supervision of Director Crimes Branch Balochistan Quetta. This Laboratory has got, examined more then Thirty Eight Thousand cases of various criminal natures, i.e Narcotics ( Charas, Heroin, Opium, Alcohol) and Biological Specimens (Murder, Rape, and Vehicles) on behalf of the Balochistan Police and other law enforcement agencies in Balochistan i.e Pakistan Customs, Anti Narcotics Force, Anti Smuggling Agency (FC) Excise and Taxation, Balochistan Levies, Pakistan Railway Police, Regional Ehtesab Bureau (NAB) Anti Corruption, Federal Investigation agency (FIA) and Various District Courts in Balochistan Province.               

Manpower

The existing functional units are comprised of five sections:

1- Chemical Section,

2- Fire arms Section,

3- Finger Print Section,

4- Question Documents Section and Chemical  

5- Etching Section.

1- CHEMICAL SECTION :-

      This section deals with the following subjects :-

1)   Chemical examination of Narcotics material i,e. Heroin, Morphine, Opium, Hashish and Alcohol.

2)   Detection of Biological specimen i,e. Human Blood in murder and Semen in Sodomy cases.

3)   Detection of Alcohol from blood and urine from the Accused person.   

         Since 1984 to 2010 this section has examined more then thirty thousand cases.                    

      Two notified (DSPs) chemical experts are working in this section.

 2- FIRE ARMS SECTION :-

     This section deals with the following subjects :-

1)   Examination of Crime shells/Crime Bullets.

2)      Identification of Fire arms.

3)      To detect the Gunpowder residue.

4)      To identify the working order of the weapon.

5)      This section has examined more then two thousand cases.

     Two Inspectors (Fire Arms Experts)

     are working in this section, one of them notified.

3-FINGERPRINTS SECTION :-  

        This section deals with the following observations :-

1)     To decipher the latent fingerprints impression upon any paper or instrument.

2)     To ensure comparison of fingerprints impression on account of similarity and dissimilarly.

         One DSP (Finger Print Expert) is working in this section.

4-QUESTIONED DOCUMENTS SECTION :-

1)  This section deals with the cases of forgery

     committed in typescript writing, signature

     and deciphering the concealed secret ink writing. 

2)  This section has examined more then four hundred cases.

     One Sub-Inspector (Questioned Document Expert) is working in this section.

 5- CHEMICAL ETCHING SECTION :-

1)   To check the suspected vehicles i.e. Restoration of concealed figures upon any metallic surface and chassis/ engine numbers. 

2)   This section has chemically examined more then four thousand cases.

      One Inspector (Chemical Etching Expert) is working in this section.

 6-PHOTOGRAPHY SECTION :-
